Hi Blog Readers, I am Julia! I am currently a freshman at FSU and I am majoring in Elementary Education. I aspire to join the Elementary Education accelerated program to receive my Masters in five years instead of six. My goal is to teach Kindergarten and pass to them my love of learning. I love doing arts and crafts and currently enjoy painting. I enjoy painting cities such as Italy, France, and Greece. These three destinations are dreams of mine to one day visit. I do not play any sports but I enjoy watching them with friends and family. I have a black lab at home named Gibbs after the TV show NCIS. I cannot wait to add more blog posts and begin my education to become a teacher.
My prior experience with technology in an educational setting stems from what was used in high school and middle school. In high school, we used Ipads. I’m familiar with iMovie, garage band, notability, smart boards and utilizing a projector. In middle school, we had Chromebooks and I’m familiar with google drive. With technology always advancing and new programs appearing, there will always be another cool new technique to learn. I’m ready to try anything different and I adapt quickly.
My personal learning network is filled with people, places, and tools. For people, I have family, friends, teachers, guidance counselors, music directors, and those involved in administrative aspects. I have a lot of family members that are in the educational field. As a result, I will be well off in getting advice on teaching skills if I ever need. Physical places I have for my PLN would be my past schools and current schools, and offices or classrooms of my people connections. Tools I have in my PLN consists of social media such as Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest. There are online workshops that can better myself as a student. Additionally, there are studying tools such as quizlet and tutoring systems that I could use as a student. My personal learning network is filled with what learning resources I use to support my learning needs and goals.
Hi Julia, I remember you painted Eiffel Tower in your room. I also want to visit Europe one day. We will learn about how to build your teacher PLN in this class. Before then, what about thinking about your Art PLN. Who do you learn new knowledge and skills for craft or painting? Are you involved in any painting club at FSU? Do you participate in any online communities to interact with people with the same interests? Do you watch any free online courses or YouTube to learn how to draw? What resources, skills, ideas, strategies, and tools you get from people in your offline and online network? Do you also contribute to those communities?
